Charlie entered service with the U.S. Army on June 22,
1111942 at Blooming Grove, Texas. He was 21 years old.
After basic training he was assigned to Company A of the 335th
Engineer Regiment. His job was to find and dismantle mines, build bridges and
was a carpenter as well!
During the war, Charlie saw action in North Africa, Corsica,
Germany and southern France.
Charlie was discharged with the rank of T Corporal on
October 25, 1945.
