Holidays

Haven't been on here in awhile. Lots to do during Thanksgiving. For the first time since I can remember I didn't spend Thanksgiving with my family. Liz had not seen her brother in years and we went to Crockett Texas. Had a really good time however.
I know that things are changing and it has to happen. Doesn't make it easier.
What really hurt was that one of my kids didnt call on Thanksgiving to wish a good holiday. I usually don't whine about these things but this year it hit home.
I know that others experience this. "Cat's In The Cradle," is what comes to mind.
We did see Scott, Kay, and Mom on Sunday. Fun times, but being in the old house brings it home that this too will change in a few years.
Handling all this with take faith, and a promish of a better future.
It may take a complete change of venue. A new start. Don't know. Hope fully will feel better about everything.

Clark Gable

On a back lot in Hollywood around 1942. Soon he would be joining the AAF and become a gunner on a B-17 in Europe.

Cold weather riding

When we think thats it's too cold to ride this winter, think about these road warriors. Finland, England, and Iceland. Texas weather is a walk in the park for these guys.

Veterans Day

Tomorrow is Veterans Day. But today I say with my Dad and looked at one of the families albums from WWII. Luckily, Dad and Mom have saved many, many photos from those years. Dad didn't remember who some of the people were of course. I knew some, but not all.
All these young people in the definitive moment in their lives. From that time on, when describing their lives, it would be, "before the war," or "after the war."
The best of times and the worst of times. All looked like they were going for a common purpose.
We will never see a generation like them again.

Weekend to remember

What a great weekend. The weather was perfect, went to the flight museum, drank some wine, ate an assortment of good food from several  restaurants, lost my camera, Liz found it!
Sunday, hit my first NASCAR race. Liz got us tickets for my birthday, thanks baby! I've been to IRL, Indy 500, Dallas Grand Prix's of years ago, Formula 1 twice, last time in Singapore, but for some reason never made it to a NASCAR race evn though I've watched it since I was a kid. Awesome time had by all!
Thanks baby!!

A November to remember

Yep, I'll be 55 soon. What is the alternative though? I've had a better life than I deserve, if things ended now, I would be thankful. I hope to contenue on and accomplish more...
Volunteering seems to take up more and more of my life. That's a good thing.
Heading to the dinner ride tonight. Panther Creek has become like an extended family. Then going to 500incs. wine feat at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum tomorrow night. On Sunday Liz got us NASCAR tickets for my birthday. Thanks Liz!!

Sportsters

Good shot of a group of mid-sixties Harley riders. Guy on the left has on white jeans, I remember they were the thing about that time. Guy in the middle has sideburns, kind of a left over pompadore hair style, and cool Ray Bans. Guy on the rights sports aviator sunglasses. Goes to show you that not all HD owners were the "Angels With Chains," type riders that Roger Gorman, who made many of the Peter Fonda, Nancy Sinatra, Bike explotation films of the late sixties had us believe.
