Robert enlisted in the U.S.Navy on March 16, 1946 at the age
of 17.
His job was that of a cook on the island of Guam that had
been taken back from the Japanese in 1944.
His most memorable experience was serving food to the
Japanese prisoners of war that had not been sent back to Japan after the war at
this point.
He was discharged from the Navy on December 30, 1947 at the
rank of Seaman First Class.
