Douglas was drafted into the U.S.Army and reported for duty
on June 18, 1943. He was 18 years old.
Douglas was trained as a communications/radio repairman
while serving with the 66th Signal Battalion of the U.S.Army Signal
Corps.
While in the Signal Corps, Douglas served in Central Europe,
as well as the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of operations.
Douglas was awarded the American Campaign medal, the
Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign ribbon
with 1 Bronze Star, the WWII Victory Medal, Army Occupation ribbon with
Germany-Japan clasp as well as the Philippine Liberation ribbon and the
Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII and the Good Conduct medal.
He was discharged on February 24, 1946 with the rank of
Technician 4th Grade.
