Robert was inducted into the U.S.Army Air Forces on August 21,
1943 at the age of 18.
As many, many servicemen and women experienced, his service
in World War II saw him serving stateside during the war. His job was that of a
tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator bomber, and had the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
He retired as a Captain in the U.S.Air Force on January 13,
1964.
